Zoom AMS-44 Overview
On-the-go Court Reporters and musicians looking for a compact and versatile audio interface will appreciate the streamlined and easy-to-use feature set on the Zoom AMS-44, an ultraportable solution with four TRS/XLR inputs, two TRS outputs, two headphone jacks, a USB Type-C connector, and modes for both streaming and recording applications.
Plug your instruments or microphones into the TRS/XLR inputs, and power condenser mics by engaging the 48V phantom power switch. Input 1 features a Hi-Z switch for guitar players. Monitor via the two 3.5mm headphone jacks or connect monitor speakers to the stereo TRS output. The AMS-44 supports 24-bit resolution recordings at sampling rates up to 96 kHz. The interface operates on bus power from your computer, but can also be powered by two AA batteries or an AC power adapter (available separately), if you’re using it with a smartphone or tablet for example. Direct monitoring and loopback functions make recording overdubs and adding music to your streams simple and easy.
- 4 TRS/XLR Inputs, 2 TRS Outputs, and 2 Headphone Jacks
- Perfect for mobile recording or streaming, the AMS-44 includes four XLR/TRS combo inputs. It also includes two 3.5mm headphone outputs and 2 TRS outputs for external monitors.
- Switch Between Multitrack and Streaming Modes
- Use the AMS series on any device and integrate seamlessly with commonly used software (like Eclipse, Case Catalyst and others), apps, and platforms thanks to its support for Mac and PC computers, along with iOS and Android devices. In Streaming mode, all inputs are combined into a single signal, so you can easily stream without needing additional complicated software. In Music mode, you can record into your DAW with expanded input and output routing options.
- With onboard hardware switches, the AMS-44 is designed to simplify common streaming challenges without the need for additional software. Intuitive knobs allow you to control input gain and monitoring levels. Group the two inputs together using the Stereo switch.
- Onboard Monitoring
- Use the Direct Monitor Switch to directly send the input signal to your headphones while routing the same signal to your DAW or streaming software.
- The Loopback Switch combines the input audio with playback from your computer and routes it to your streaming software. This is perfect for adding background music to your stream or singing live with an instrumental track.

For the price, you will not find a 4-input interface to compete with this one

Excellent tiny four input audio interface

I was looking for a compact, four input interface for my synths that is reasonably priced and the AMS-44 is definitely it. It’s small, only about the size of my iPhone 13 mini. I like that it has controls for each input and output, unlike some of the single knob interfaces. Sounds as good as any of the more expensive interfaces I’ve owned. It’s plastic, but is well constructed. Overall, it’s a great deal.

Good match for my use

I use this for live video broadcasting and live music recordings at music venues where only small table is available. Streams are through four microphones at one left, one right and two center go to OBS or 4 independent channels to Protools recordings. Selections from 3 independent power supplies, through USB signal pass, from USB 5V or AA x 2 batteries are convenient at places where no 110V is available. 24 bit at 48 kHz with phantom power gives good sound quality. Small size box matches small laptops

Does the job.

This is useful, it’s just the plastic I don’t like. You can use this as an audio interface. Also, you can plug a mic into this then add a five-volt power supply, then attach an instrument cable into an EQ then into an audio interface. Beware the small loopback slide-button on the side. Its small and I just accidentally slid it and when I opened my DAW I hit record and got a loud feedback squeal (yes, user error, not a defect)!

Very good interface, there is no battle for drivers and it is immediately recognized by production programs such as Cubase, Band in a Box, Sibelius and in general Windows. The bad thing is that it only has two outputs to the monitor and two to the headphones. You can’t send separate channels to different amplifiers on stage.
The streaming function is practical because it works as a mixer where you can connect four microphones simultaneously or two microphones and two inputs with music from an external device, for example for a radio program or a karaoke session. Because it’s USB, it automatically plays the sound content that your laptop plays. For the price, it’s worth it. Because of the durability, I don’t know about it since I’ve been using it for less than a month.
