The SP-HMC-1 Sound Professionals Headphone Mounted Binaural microphones are very small so small that they are completely contained inside set of lightweight, Walkman style headphones. These are not the headphone speaker elements used as microphones, but the same high quality microphone elements used in our standard Binaurals. The two microphone elements are each mounted to the headphones such that the headphone ear pads act as windscreens, completely covering the microphone elements. The headphone microphones have 1 meter cable. General information about all of our Binaural microphones is available here.
When worn on the head, as if you were “listening” to the headphones, these microphones can be used to make very discreet recordings, as you appear to be listening to portable stereo (MD, DAT or Cassette recorder), when in fact you are making high fidelity binaural recording. You can also wear the “headphones” around your neck, such that you are wearing them, but not listening to them. In this case, you would be making stereo recording, not binaural one. Note: these are microphones only-they do not work as headphones.
