The MS-EHB-2-MKII Sound Professionals Ear-mounted Ultra Low Noise Binaural microphones are mounted in extremely comfortable super-soft, “Ear-mounted” holders that slip right onto the outside of the ear structure (see photo). These mics put the mic element right next to the ear. This results in extremely realistic recordings, from the perspective of the person wearing them.
While recording, your hearing is not impaired, so you can enjoy the sound of the performance while making a very realistic recording. The 59” cables terminate in a stereo 1/8″ (3.5mm) gold-plated miniplug.
- Windscreens: For windy situations, soft foam windscreens are available. These windscreens are acoustically transparent, and allow sound to pass through to your ears and the microphones completely unchanged. These are also handy for those recordists who need the microphones to be very unobtrusive as they completely cover the mic element.
- Microphone power supply (Battery Modules): For loud recording situations, the mics need more power than a typical recorder can provide. You can use a battery module to get the additional power needed or use a recorder with XLR inputs and phantom power.

I want to complement The Sound Professionals on the durability of the master series MKII microphone elements, the ones that had the plastic body and rubber pads on the bottom, which I think have been replaced with the newer round body. I have been using a set of these microphones for a few years now, wrapped up in zip-lock bags, sealed as much as they can be, and placed within my window so I can hear the outside sounds with them. They work extremely well for this purpose, but recently, they’ve received more exposure to the elements likely because the bags have begun breaking apart, as I’ve not checked on them during that time.
They’ve been exposed to rain, hail, and today, they were exposed to a pressure washer which did muffle them for a few hours until the sun shined directly on them to dry them out. Their sound has been slightly effected because of the damage they’ve taken because of my unconventional use case, which I’ve planned for and will start using replacements soon. However, the sound from the microphones is still fantastic and they’re holding up well. Though they aren’t waterproof, they’re doing their job extremely well considering everything they’ve been dealt. I’m amazed the pressure washer didn’t cause them to stop working completely.
